What are CI and CVAI?

CI

CI (Cephalic Index): the ratio of head width to head length × 100. CI ≥ 85 may indicate brachycephaly (flat head).

CVAI

CVAI (Cranial Vault Asymmetry Index): measures the degree of asymmetry between the two sides of the head. CVAI ≥ 3.5 may indicate plagiocephaly (head tilt/asymmetry).

How to Take the Right Photo

  • 1Place your baby lying on their back or sitting upright
  • 2Take the photo straight from above (bird's eye view)
  • 3Ensure good lighting, avoid shadows
  • 4No need to shave hair — the photo can be taken through hair
